Your Questions About How Do I Substance

Lisa asks…How do I find the number of mols of a particular substance in a chemical equation?For instance, if I had 2CH(3)OH + 3O(2) --> 2CO(2) + 4H(2)O, how would i find the # of mols of methanol?poptropicahelp answers:Do two things:
1) write a balanced equation
2) do not use brackets unnecessarily:
Balanced equation:
2 CH3OH + 3 O2 = 2 CO2 + 4 H2O

Now you have the number of mol reacting by reading the coefficients in front of each molecule:
2mol CH3OH reacts with 3mol O2 to produce 2m
